This book is well written and that makes me angry.

I'm dismayed to find that this book about a man who can transform into a helicopter who lusts after dinosaur billionaires has more world building, character development, and plot twists than many of the books I've recently read. It makes angry. Who is this author in real life? Lemony Snicket?

Probably.

There's a fine sprinkling of typos in this novel, but it seems more effort was put into this book than most other erotica. I've come to realize that Chuck Tingle is a national treasure, and I'm disgustingly pulled into wondering what will happen next to these characters as the romance and suspense is well paced and the pseudo science is bizarrely solid.

Going into this, I assumed Chuck Tingle wrote this book giving zero effs, but it looks that at least four out of five effs were given during the crafting of this modern masterpiece.

I would recommend this book to both no one and everyone. Get this for your friend in a hard copy and watch as they open it. Send it to grandma. Read it on the train. Request it to be carried by your library.

If you read only one novel about a helicopter man pounding a billionaire dinosaur this year, make it this one.

I bought this book on a whim and now I'm Tingled for life

Incredible. I've been laughing in delight about the titles and descriptions of Chuck Tingles books for some while now, but only today decided to, against my better judgement, actually order one of his ebooks. I'm so glad I did. I laughed so hard I cried on more than one occasion, but even more than that- it's meticulously crafted. The writing is actually really quite good, and I found myself not only intrigued and charmed by the characters, but surprisingly involved in the actual plot...enough to where, absurdity aside, I would have still enjoyed it a lot, which was crazy. Really, I felt quite bad for both of the characters and their sad backstories, and was very fond of them. However, the true goldmine lies in the way that he writes the scenes: you spend the entire sex scene trying to bend your mind around how it works (a helicopter getting sucked off in a bathroom stall?? a dinosaur with scaly abs being pinned down by landing strips?!?), and he makes it just confusing enough to where you can really never get a complete visual grasp on what is going on, with little regard to scale or continuity. Its just absurd enough to be hilarious, but just tangible enough to keep you from disconnecting. You will be rolling on the floor. Please, do yourself a favor and forego your Starbucks latte for one day and buy this damn ebook.

Back in March of this year I lost 22 lbs. in 4 weeks from only cooking out of the wheat belly cookbook. I still have about 12 lbs to go, but don't have the time to make the recipes. It feels like I've been waiting forever for this 30-minute or less cookbook to come out. Finally it arrived Christmas Eve and then I fell in love. The only time consuming thing about this cookbook for a beginner is going to be getting familiar with the ingredients and where to locate them. So far today I made the Beef stroganoff, crab stuffed mushrooms and the spicy chicken. All were excellent and only took 15 to 30 minutes which is life changing compared to the other recipe book :)

This book has no only changed my life but also the life of my entire family. We have three generations eating the Wheat Belly way. I am off my heart medication and my cholesterol medication thanks to this way of eating. My depression is gone. Anxiety gone. Intestinal issues, gone. This is truly life changing!

Will knock your socks off as your clothes fall off!

Let me start by saying I didn't have high expectations of the Wheat Belly book or the cookbook, but I was very, very wrong. To give you some understanding, I have severe acid reflux and a hiatal hernia to boot. Before reading the book, I had been on more than double the max dose of a prescription medication as well as the max dose of OTC Zantac every single day. Even with this array of pills I vomitted blood and got sick most meals. I felt poorly everyday for the last 3+ years. I couldn't even brush my teeth in the morning without gagging or throwing up! In addition to that, I was shedding an abnormally large amount of hair, breaking out in rashes, have an array of symptoms similar to a low blood sugar (without any sugar issues), constantly tired off and on all day, waking multiple times a night to use the restroom or to numbness and tingling in my limbs or lips, having heart palpitations, and several other very bizarre things! I am a healthy, 32 year old female, within 15 pounds of a healthy weight for my age/height, who works out several times a week, and is in otherwise peak condition.
This book was the last stop after multiple doctors and medications (both natural and prescribed) before giving in and trying surgery. Which, by the way, has a recurrence high enough to make me think it is a horrible idea.
Within 24 hours of cutting out wheat I had stopped vomiting. I felt more energetic (slightly), and noticed a difference. Within 3 days I cut my dose of meds in half, and within 1 week I was totally off my medication with no ill effects.
I am currently about 1 1/2 months out from starting this journey and I feel totally different! I now have a reaction if I even ingest a tiny amount of wheat, and all the symptoms I had and many I didn't even realize were symptoms (like the hair shedding) are gone. Totally gone!
Now, this book...i got it first because it seemed like if I was going to stick with something, then a 30 minute meal book would be the simplest verses the original Wheat Belly cookbook. I have been feeding my family dinners out of this book for the last month, and every single one has been a hit. I have picky eaters and even they love what I'm cooking!!!
This book is the best cookbook with some of the best recipes I've ever tried, even over wheat-containing ones.
If you are wanting something to make this journey easier, tastier, and enjoyable...this is the best choice!

Very practical fluids engineering guide

Book was well worth the money. Compariable in price to any academic text. I bought it new, which is a reprint of the classic Blevins text. It doesn't come with any dust cover. I was looking for pipe & fitting loss calculations, which it goes over extensively. Serves as a good guide for actual engineering, since it contains a good balance of theory, design guidelines, and applied data from experimentation on most fluid mechanics type problems.

An Indispensible Handbook for Fluids Engineers

This book is an excellent and exhaustive treatment of the engineering aspects of fluid flow in pipes, through components, and in open channel situations, not to mention nearly every other situation that a mechanical engineer might encounter. As an engineer with fluids and thermal system design experience, I highly recommend this work to anyone in this field. Especially useful are the exhaustive tables of K - values for nearly every imaginable component, including partially open valves, screens, and almost every imaginable type of pipe. This book is well worth the price.

91-Page small masterpiece on a large topic

Like many other items in this Oxford chemistry primers, this one is of particlar value among those heavy big volumes on this topic. As precise as it could be - 91 pages, it has covered all the major points of organic synthesis in terms of retrosynthesis analysis and selectivity, as well as representative published works. The authors also pay attention to touch on different reactions as many as possible - after all mastering reactions is a must for successful synthesis. The best feature is the logical presentation of the topic which allows the readers to actually enjoy reading without much difficulty - with gradual increase of depth to the final original publications. Of course such a volume is not intended for those who are very experienced in the art of organic synthesis. Rather, it could be very refreshing and helpful for the experienced ones to pick up this topic again after a while away from this field. Or it could serve as a valuable piece for an organic chemistry student prior to formal graduate level organic synthesis. Or test yourself if you understand all the material in this book - if the answer is yes, you should be a proud synthetic organic chemist already!

About the Author
Timothy G. Stout lived in Japan for 20 years and has taught Japanese language for 23 years in public and private schools, and at the university level. While teaching at the American School in Japan he conducted research on the use of keyword mnemonics in the instruction of Japanese. Stout has a Doctorate in Education (EdD) from Utah State University, an M.A. in Japanese Pedagogy from Columbia University and a B.A. in Japanese Teaching from Brigham Young University. He currently teaches Japanese at Utah Valley University, and resides in Lehi, Utah with his wife and five children. Stout is the author of Japanese Hiragana and Katakana for Beginners and Let's Learn Japanese, both available from Tuttle.

BEST BOOK EVER

I have been self teaching myself and my children for 2 years now and have not found a book to help us until now. This is the best book ever! It has pictures and practice squares. It is perfect in every way except that I would love a copy that is more in a workbook (spiral bound?) form instead of a reading paperback. Thank you! I have been using it with the Kana flashcard set by Tuttle cause each time we learn a series of phonetics, we have a few words to correspond. We have been learning for 1 month and can read, write, and say over a hundred words in Japanese without aid. Yay!

Learning What Important

If you are learning Japanese, this is the book to pick up. Nothing is more important then learning the basics first. And this book gives you everything basic you can hold in your hand. In the beginning of the book, it gives you a back story of the man who invented TUTTLE. As soon as I stumbled upon the Tuttle Collection, it has been a blessing. And so far, learning Japanese has been a blast!
After reviewing the man behind the name in a paragraph or two. It gives you information on how to use the book, vowel pronunciations and even the past of the character sets themselves. Don't worry, it doesn't overload you with textbook definitions. It gives you brief and to the point back story's. Trust me, none of it is a waste of your time. All of it is useful and interesting information.
The Hiragana Chart is then introduced and you learn how to write them. This is important. If you are going to write in Japanese , you need to know the stroke order and stroke types. It keeps it neat and legible. When I first started using it I immediately wanted to buy another one. So I suggest, buy two or copy the pages so you can keep practicing off paper. The book provides wonderful practice as well as memorable mnemonics and vocabulary. When you're done with learning how to write them, there's an activity section. Where you are putting what you learned into use. It helps you remember the characters as well as their stroke order. Then when you're done with Hiragana, the exercise begins again with Katakana.
Though I would not recommend this to someone to learn Katakana and Hiragana straight out. But if it is what you want to try, go for it. I would offer this book to someone to learn how to write them and make their memory of the characters concrete.
If you want to use something to help you learn them, there are many resources on your Nintendo DS (I DON'T recommend Japanese Coach). And there are many free options on your Android Phone like JA Sensei, Kana Mind, Qwiz-Hiragana and more. You won't know until you start looking. The more fun it becomes for you, the easier it will become to learn.
The CD has a large number of names in katakana so you can look up your name in japanese. It even has flash cards with the same mnemonics images that are in the book.
This is a great tool, get it while its still cheap and they don't realize what they're selling.

About the Author
Dr Iain J. Clark, (London, UK), is Head of Foreign Exchange Quantitative Analysis at Dresdner Kleinwort in London, where he set up and runs the team responsible for developing pricing libraries for the front office. Previously, he was Director of the Quantitative Research Group in Lehman Brothers, Fixed Income Quantitative Analyst at BNP Paribas and has also worked in FX Commodities Derivatives research at JP Morgan. He holds an MSc in Mathematics from the University of Edinburgh, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Queensland, Australia. Dr Clark is a regular speaker at key finance events, and has presented at London Imperial College, The Bachelier Society Annual Conference, London Imperial College, world business Strategies annual Conference, Risk events, Marcus Evans events and many more.

A real practioner's book

I traded BRLUSD options for 5 years, and Iain's book is the only book that covers all the different aspects of trading and modelling FX options:
Different delta conventions
Market strangles, and how to fit your interpolating function to the traded strikes
Realistic interpolations for volatility surface construction
Local volatility in FX
Local Stochastic Volatility Models
Longdated FX Options
Also covered are the different issues and approaches of implementing the models, like Monte Carlo and PDEs; and a good discussion of barrier bending and exotics.
The focus is on presenting the methods and formulas, not proving theorems; even so, traders should not treat it as only a formula depository, there's real depth behind it.
Highly recommended for anyone trading or modelling FX options.

Relevant and insightful for modelling FX options

Once you start going through the book - very quickly you will realize that it is extremely practical and comes for a person who has been a significant participant of the market with many years of experience. This is important since most texts are theoretical and and less insightful

Some of the most useful topics are:
Concept of many deltas and decent treatment of ATM and Delta conventions
Correctness of FX vol surface construction in the light of 1-vol Butterfly convention
Most relevant fitting methods

good details about models and practical mention of the LSV model -
entire section on practical aspects of the numerical methods
Really like the comparison with Heat equation.

Barrier options have been treated very well. I was able to do a comparative analysis of different skew based models - LV, SV LSV through Moustache graphs for OneTouch and DNTs.

Since Iain was heading desk activities, I would have really liked for him to also cover a few more things like:

- practical aspects of curve building given FX market is so convoluted with conventions - which ccys use LIBOR/OIS curve and which ones use FX Forward implied curves
- How is the model used practically for hedging activities - a little more intuition besides the math
- FX Volatility products in the light of FX models - calibrating SV model parameters to variance swaps.

overall a great book and definitely recommend reading it for desk activities

One of the best quant books around

Although I've only managed to read about the first 4 chapters...based on my reading, I can already recommend this very highly.

Thoughtful, clear and rigorous, this book offers an in depth, unified treatment of fx options pricing. It will be a great reference for a quant and also potential traders. Not only does ian bridge the gap about volatility surface, but how one applies these models to the fx. I would recommend having read a prior book in stochastic calculus prior to coming to this book....Although you don't really need an indepth knowledge about stochastic calculus prior to reading this book. Say, a book by ubbo wiersema brownian motion calculus should do the trick or perhaps even shreve (i've read ubbo's book completely and have only read about 7-8 chapters in shreve).

apart from that...a course in numerical linear algebra would also help. although most of the numerical stuff in this book is very self-contained. in short...buy it...The mathematical tootls you will learn from this book can very well be applied in other areas of options pricing.
