About the Author

Wong Kiew Kit, popularly known as Sifu Wong, is the fourth generation successor of Venerable Jiang Nan from the famous Shaolin Monastery in China and Grandmaster of Shaolin Wahnam Institute of Kungfu and Chi Kung. He received the “Chi Kung Master of the Year” Award during the Second World Congress on Chi Kung held in San Francisco in 1997. He has practiced and taught the Shaolin arts for more than 3 decades and has more than 60,000 students all over the world.

Extremely thorough Zen reference

I found this book to be an extremely indepth reference of Zen Buddhism. In comparison to others that I have read I found this to be very easy to understand, and with such a subject as Zen that is not an easy task. As simple as it is, with its all of its vast information and insight, one could read this book 100 times and get something new from it each time. I would definately recommend this book to anyone, from someone with a new curiosity about Zen, to a master seeking new insight and enlightenment.

Now that's good Zen

Zen Buddhism has its home in the Shaolin temple in China, which is also known for its gongfu. The samurai in Japan also were ardent practioners of Zen to improve their swordsmanship. These phenomena has baffled scholars for many years: for arts that practice fighting, why practice a "peaceful" religion/spiritual philosophy? This book has the answer. It explains the concrete connection between Zen and gongfu.

On the whole its an enjoyable book. Master Wong uses various sutras and koans to explain different types of meditations, Zen or otherwise, while also givine a good comparison as between other forms of Buddhism as well as tracing its roots from India to China to Japan. On the whole, for those who want to have a well rounded regimen in training for both mind and body, this is a great book to start. This book gives a good introduction to qigong and gongfu as well as best ways to prepare for meditation.

I only give 4 stars for a couple of reasons. Master Wong does tend to repeat himself in this book. Also in writing about martial arts in general, he seemed to lack humility about the subject. Yes, I also agree gongfu is good, but I also think using other forms of martial arts, like karate and taekwondo, can also be suited for Zen study; as that is how I'm doing this training.

Either way, it's a good book to check out. If doesn't want to be too bogged down in mere intellectual studies of sutras, this helps one in getting to the core of what Zen is really about.

I've read the Hebrew translation, and it was absolutley splendid. After several vague books of Zen and Budhism, it was throughly eye-opening to follow Master WWK, as he leads readers through the basics of both, carefully detailing Zen from basic principles to more elaborate questions, and never leaving your hand.
You know those rare thrills you get out of learning something that really means something? This is it. If you want to understand Zen, that's the one book you should begin with.

Received the Kindle version yesterday and stayed up till 3am finishing it. Explains so much about the FBI investigation and Comey.

I knew the Obama's and Clintons hated each other but not how deep it went. Obama also hates Comey ("worst mistake of his Presidency") and initially wanted FBI to recommend indictment... But he couldn't convince Biden to run. Thus the flip and reluctant phony endorsement for Hillary. Now BO is campaigning for her as if he's running for a third term.

Hillary cusses like a drunken sailor in private and the book reveals the dysfunctional Clinton family and the true nature of Chelsea - Wow. And of course there's Hillary's weird relationship with
Huma...

It's been a long time since I read a book in one day. Seeing what Trump is up against (Trump covered briefly), it will be a miracle if he gets elected. But I still believe in miracles...

No Indictment??????

I started this book yesterday, and finished it this morning. Once you start it, you will find yourself not wanting to put it down.
I wanted not only answers, but what went on behind the scenes as to "WHY" no indictment.
I was one of many who watched James Comey make his case in listing everything his team of investigators found out during the year long investigation of Hillary's home server, and her reckless mishandling of some of our Country's most sensitive Classified info, along with her personal stuff.
When Comey concluded that there would be no indictment, my mouth totally dropped. I wanted to know how could he reach this conclusion??
When you read this book, the author lays out precise interviews of those close to the Clintons, and events as they unfolded.
I was so angry at Comey, and thought he lacked the courage and "other" things (ahem) to appear as to not standing up for the Laws, and caving in to political pressure. By reading this book, you will find out exactly "who" and "why" Comey had to do a total 180 and allow Hillary a pass.
I'm still angry at Comey for not doing the right thing, and standing for the Laws and not Politics! Hillary brought this on herself, and it isn't a right -wing conspiracy, political theater, or waste of taxpayers money, to get to the truth. We need answers, and not have those close to Hillary taking the "5th", Whenever, I hear that, I can't help but think "what are they hiding?"
Anyone who doesn't agree, needs to see how dangerous it is for America to go down this road. It shouldn't matter if you are a Democrat,
NO ONE SHOULD BE ABOVE THE LAW!!!!!

Great book - jam packed with good stuff!

I ordered this book a while back, and we're still reading it. Extreme Space is not a book you can read through once and not expect to pick it up again... great for referencing when you encounter new and old situations alike. Several times, Ms. Mallory addressed issues that I'd never seen addressed before, but had been searching for information on for a long time, such as Primal Space and latent behaviors.
This is definitely a book I'm pleased to have found. I've recommended it to several friends. The only thing I didn't like about it, and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is that at times it's not edited for mistakes as well as I would have liked (but I only noticed it because I notice things like that.)

Exellent read for those in the know, as well as for newbies

Ms Steel, aka F R R Mallory, does not mince words and shares more than just a bit of pertinent information regarding the lifestyle. She cautions when possible and encourages and inspires, as well. THis is another Doctor written book on the subject of BDSM; By someone within the lifestyle. It was very well written and concise and a differing point of view from another Doctors point. I also bought her newest book to go with it to aid in my research for a story I am writing.

Valuable in many situations

Although originally created and consistently lauded for helping kids learn science facts this book has proven valuable many times in helping adult professionals overcome the Will Rogers syndrome 'It's not what you don't know that hurts, it is what you do know --- that ain't so!' Time and again professional adults have been quite certain about their understanding of a situation only to founder in a matter of minutes when attempting to express themselves in the concept map discipline. More importantly when two or more people agree to communicate with concept maps dialogue occurs!

The combination of the CMap software and the book's usage rationale and examples creates a learning environment that has served many situations quite well.

My only disappointment is that the author did not choose the title Learning, Using and Creating Knowledge so that it could truly bring LUCK to all who read it.

Concept Mapping’s Origins, Rationale, Theory, and Application

This book provides extensive context, background on concept maps, their place in learning and knowledge discovery.

It describes how concept maps emerged from educational research in the early 1970’s to make records of what children know. It relates how interviews with children and the identification of concept words and propositions led to the development of concept maps as a means of showing key ideas and their relationships via diagrammatic representation (e.g. think of bubble charts with arrows indicating how different elements are related to one another).

The book explains how concept maps are a good way for teachers to organize knowledge for instruction. It conveys ways such maps are a helpful means for students to find key concepts and principles in lectures, reading and instructional materials. This work also relates concept mapping as a useful approach for companies in representing what they do, how their product/services work, and in making enhancements.

This story unfolds through the respective chapters including (1) an overview of the book, (2) the need for a theory of education, (3) meaningful learning for empowerment, (4) construction of new meanings, (5) Ausubel’s assimilation learning theory, (6) the nature of knowledge and how humans create knowledge, (7) the effective teacher/manager, (8) the context for education/management, (9) evaluation and rewards, and (10) improving education in schools and corporations. Throughout the book, many charts, diagrams, figures and examples help inform the text. In fact, concept maps appear at various points to explain the book and it various aspects. In addition, there are appendices that offer “how to” steps.

As I read more about concept mapping, I was stuck by parallels of this approach with that of the one introduced by Peter Ramus in the 16th century. The Ramus visual learning approach went viral at that time and had a major impact on education and learning (see my review on Walter Ong’s classic book on the subject). Further examination of these parallels could be most interesting and useful in understanding these methods and their effects.

Novak’s book gives an extensive treatment of concept mapping’s origins, rationale, related theory, with some application examples. So romantic!

I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. By the Letter is the 2nd book in this series by Nikki Steele, an awesome author. Claire is so angry with Booker after finding out he is married. It is so romantic how Booker tries to win Clara back. He quotes her favorite romantic literature and has a serenade played under her balcony at one in the morning. He loves her so much, he is willing to give up everything than to lose her. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This book is hot enough to make the reader go for a cold shower just to cool down. Clara was so angry with Booker and herself that she wouldn't even allow him to explain. The lengths he went to to show her the depth of his feelings finally induced her to listen to his explanation. Of course, the fact that the little old lady who was her neighbor and said she would take him if Clara wouldn't might have influenced her to some extent. She regretted trying to get back at him through the PI the wife hired but it certainly inspired Booker. If the first night they spent together was hot, their time in the café by the library was positively almost like lighting a bonfire. I can't wait for the third installment. I'm still going to try to get a copy of the Kamasutra. If nothing else it will definitely give inspiration. I received a free copy of this book from the author.

Married...Booker is married. No , no, no, Clara what will you do now. You thought what you had was so special, but married...
Booker still insists he wants them to be together but he will have to persuade Clara he is serious.
Just when you think things are calming down, along comes a sleazy, horrible Private Investigator on behalf of Mrs Stacey DeVale, Booker's wife. He informs Clara that if Booker cheats, he will lose everything.
A story starting to build up with lies, secrets, passion and most of all Love trying to get through. Brilliant story.

What a great book to address a huge gap in healthcare process improvement! Having a source book to teach continuous change and illustrate waste reduction based on the Toyota Production System to busy healthcare practitioners has been sorely lacking until now. I have used the A3 in my hospital and it works! Clinical workers can see the entire project on one piece of paper as well as areas of obvious waste. Since the A3 clearly focuses on changing processes, the clinical workers are motivated to communicate across silos, successfully implement countermeasures, and look at the achieved target condition as the new current condition. About the Author
Ms. Jimmerson is a pioneer of lean healthcare, having initiated her work with a grant from the National Science Foundation, 2001-2004. She is the founder and president of Lean Healthcare West, an organization of healthcare professionals offering education and implementation of TPS/lean principles in hospital, clinic and long term care facilities. She is the author of the review Course and Workbook and many journal publications.

A great book to have in your Lean health care library

A3 Problem Solving for Health Care is a must have book for any Lean health care library. This book is a wonderful "coach" for someone learning A3 problem solving. The author takes the reader through a step-by-step, common sense approach to using this essential Lean tool. The book is filled with great examples of A3 use in every day health care practice areas.

Author Cindy Jimmerson, an internationally popular leader in Lean health care has, yet again, demonstrated her creative and unique approach to a critical subject that can and will change the future of how health care is delivered. Her straight-forward, entertaining, and practical approach to A3 problem solving is easy to learn and easy to apply in the course of daily work.

In particular, Ms Jimmerson demonstrates how A3 problem solving can be used by any member of the health care team to improve how care is delivered by eliminating waste and focusing on moving all of the work that is done towards IDEAL.

The design of Ms Jimmerson's A3 format, using the left side of the form to establishing understanding of the current condition and the right side to identify a target condition and the ways to achieve that target condition, is easy to use because of its logical, step-by-step approach.

The wonderful things about Ms Jimmerson's method of A3 problem solving is that her format can be used not only to solve problems in the course of daily work, but also as a template for a meeting, for orientation of new staff, as departmental guidelines, and to demonstrate projects completed and projects in progress to regulating bodies.

If one had to choose one book to keep handy for daily reference in relation to Lean health care and problem solving, this would be the book.

This is a must-have book in healthcare, no matter what your level of experience or understanding with Lean Manufacturing concepts and the Toyota Production System. The author has captured the essence of Toyota's most effective process improvement tool-- the A3. If you are a beginner, the book is simple, straightforward, and pragmatic with examples that clarify the concepts. If you are a veteran, the book will serve as a great reminder of everything you should be doing, and will be invaluable as a tool for teaching and coaching. Even though the book is written for healthcare, the truth is, it would be useful for any industry. Like the topic it addresses, the book is lean and waste-free.
