Left wanting more!

Because it had been a while since the last book had been released, I totally reread the first two books to refresh my memory on the storyline. It was as interesting the second time around as the first. Book 3 left me wanting even more. As the storyline and the characters continue to evolve I can not think of a single bad thing to say except for, please do not make me wait for a year for the next installment to this series! The Age of Alandria series is completely addictive and Morgan Wylie has a way of spinning her tale so that the reader can visualize what is happening in the book.

Deagan and Kaelieghanna are of course the main love interest and are destined to be together by the Fates dealt to them but it is so much more. Their chemistry is palpable.

As other characters and love interest evolve it will be interesting to see who picks who, can love conquer all, can the light win over darkness,and can Alandria be saved? I can't wait for the next installment to this series!

Wow. So much happened in this book. Kaleigh and her friends make it to Elnye. She senses right away that things are not as they seem, and that causes trouble for Kaleigh and her friends. She finds out that her warriors loyalties run much deeper than she thought. After calling Melina out on her deception Kaleigh and her friends are locked up as prisoners. While being locked up they meet a new character and they aren't sure if he can be trusted. After a daring rescue the group is led to safety. Once they reach their safe haven, both Kaleigh and her warrior meet some interesting characters and they learn more about who they are. With Kaleigh being the legend of prophecy, residents of Alandria are ready to take a stand against the darkness. The emotions that the characters experience while they go through this and so much more is well conveyed and heartfelt. The book is so clearly depicted you can visualize scenes from the book as if you are standing there. The book is a cliffhanger and leaves you craving more. I have will be anxiously awaiting for the release of the next book.

I liked the book but will not probably buy another

I kept thinking the book would come to an end only to find each book is quit short and so had to find the next one. Upon finishing book 3, I was discouraged to find another that has not been published yet and feel that there will probably be more to come on top of the 4 I have already finished. When I get into a good book, I want to finish it in a reasonable time frame and very definitely do not want to wait months or a year to finish. This turns me off to an author. As much as I have enjoyed the story, I will probably, as I know from experience, end up.loosing interest. To me that is sad and I probably will not order more books from this author!

Xavier is a butt-face

Milayna's Angel picks up right where Milayna left off. Except now there is trouble in paradise. Specifically, Chay's and Milayna's paradise. Xavier is a new character who is stirring up drama between Chay and Milayna. To make matters worse, Chay isn't being himself, and this causes Milayna to doubt the relationship she has with him.

To make things worse, there's a new villain in town and his name is Abaddon. Of course, he also wants Milayna dead. I think he is a considerable foe, more than Azazel was. However, he does seem to have different methods in carrying out his nefarious plans.

I must say, once Milayna started having visions of someone hurting her with only one person being a constant, I knew it was only a matter of time before something terrible happened. There was good build-up throughout the book to this one scene, but I honestly thought Milayna was stupid for not figuring it out sooner. Then again, she was hoping that her visions were wrong. Her trust in this person is so strong it is inconceivable to her that this person would ever try to hurt her. After the events in the first book, you'd think that she would learn to heed the visions and her gut.

Before I finish, I have to say that Xavier is a butt-face. Why can't the guy take a hint and back off? It's obvious that Chay and Milayna are together, and that she wants nothing to do with him. Ugh. I just hate Xavier. For being an angel, he certainly doesn't act like one.

A Great Sequel

I really loved the first book that I read in the series Milayna #1 and so I was very pleased to get the opportunity to read this book. I love paranormal and have gotten really into the angels/demons side of the genre. I found this book to be highly enjoyable and loved the twists that the author weaved into the story. Milyana was already a well developed character and in this book she really shows a lot of growth and further development. The author again writes in such a way that you are drawn into the story and find yourself experiencing it along with the characters. I read the book straight through and can't wait for the release of The Innocent, coming in November. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this sequel

I loved this sequel. I feel all the characters were developed in ways that both matured them and made them come alive . I enjoyed Milayna's new love interest the most--while I do like Chay I felt simce book one that there was something a little unhealthy about their relationship. I also love seeing more interacting with BFF Muriel, who in book one was often reffered to as the closest person to Milayna but I didn't really feel it like I did in this book. Can't wait for the next.

Keeps getting better

Lucky Peach is a very unique quarterly primarily targeted at "foodies" (pejorative? or badge of honor?), but can hold its own when keeping the attention of varied audiences. It's got social commentary, cultural insights, and hell of a lot of interesting stories/viewpoints. The first issue of Lucky Peach was fantastic, but it is in the second issue that Chang's Lucky Peach shows that it's got what it takes to stick around and be worth your continued attention and dollar. It doesn't fall into food blogger-esque habits of relying on cuss words and attitude like a crutch, nor does it heavily rely on the pretension of constant name dropping of celebrity chefs and the hottest digs to be seen at. I really appreciate this, because I don't care about keeping track of the who's who in the culinary world. I'm also far from being a "good" cook or chef, yet the writers and Chang remain very relatable in their experiences/musings. Despite this issue's themes and cover involving rot, the bottom line is that Lucky Peach stays fresh.

Ode to David Chang

I thought this magazine was okay (issue 2). Unique recipes, lots of food writing. I love food writing. The first story was primarily about David Chang. The second one was about David Chang. The third and fourth one too.... Please don't get me wrong, he has done great things for the world of food and his cook book is great. No doubt. It's just that after a while with every story being about him or making strong reference to him, it felt like a biography. I guess I just love food writing with a variety of food stories about various places, things, topics, foods that are not centered around just one person or just one thing.

Full of Good Reads

Great food writing! I am really enjoying the creative approach Lucky Peach designers and writers use to present each issue's theme. I read issue #1 cover to cover and am devouring issue #2. It is so exciting to learn about new techniques and trends in fine dining as well as some more accessible things such as "decorate fruit stickers." There is something for everyone in Lucky Peach. I wait on the doorstep for the mail when it is Lucky Peach time.

Hits the sweet spot for anyone designing Web sites

This book distills the best practices for designing Web sites to meet agreed-on goals. This book gives readers guidance on how to make high-level decisions needed to achieve a successful Web design or redesign. It gives 7 steps to be done in order to define a site and implement the design.
The author compares Web design with other design projects, such as software design. People think of Web site design as artistic and creative, but imagine if a software company assigned a team to create an application with no precise guidelines early on, no feedback along the way. There's no way the finished product will meet any vaguely-defined objectives. The author convincingly demonstrates that there are repeatable steps that are essential for Web design also.
The book is filled with practical, hard-won advice undoubtedly won over many projects for many types of organizations. There are anecdotes that will help you spot "red flags" and myriad questions to ask at each phase and ways of gleaning what needs to change for redesigning a site and forms and wireframe examples and techniques on how to test and refine a design. There was an interesting story about how the author found what was most lacking to a site's users. This information could have been available to anyone who knew how to find out what users really thought, but was obviously not recognized by the company! It's no wonder that web sites during the 1998 - 2000 era so often failed.
There are no snippets of HTML, nor recommendations on fonts or styles, but this book thankfully does not try to introduce the topic of what is a JPG, etc. Too many books try to leave no child behind, thus diluting their amount of useful info. The amount of wisdom per page is substantial.
Most of all, the author stays focused on the USER and how to see things from their point-of-view. She defines different types of users, even sometimes giving a persona a name, age, occupation and reason for using the site. Lots of organization decisions become clear when you realize typical things a user would want to do or search for. Her commitment to users comes through in her writing. The appendix lists some additional books of interest, and the author's "I welcome user suggestions" rings sincere.

More moeny + happy clients = more surfing...

Ani, way to go! Great book and really needed in todays' market. No one knows better the need to focus on the basics of design more than someone that has their own company. Except maybe someone trying to kep their job in difficult time.
This book will help anyone understand and develop their own methodology and production processes that clients are looking for. User-centered design has always helped me land clients and keep visitors happy and Ani's proven examples will give you direction and insight into what's working out there.
If you don't have a lot of time to spend on learning information, interaction and usability, this book wraps it all up in a nutshell. I especially liked the endless feedback loops described in the book. Afterall, the second job with the client is what keeps the money coming in. :)
If you know me, you know I'm all about the money and this book helps you make money. More money = more surfing, right?

Returning to the roots of good design

I have to admit I had some skepticism about this book when I read the title. Don't let that stop you from picking up a copy. Ani Payo's engaging content is far from the kind you would hear at a typical marketing seminar. The book starts out defining a new process for creating sites, a workflow if you will. From there you hit the ground running. Topics that are covered range from defining the difference between print collateral content and web content, to the difference between designing for a product and designing for those that use the product. Every page of this book is packed with information that can help you create a successful site that not only meets the business objectives, but surpasses them by explaining how to get the most out of the site once it's up and before the next redesign or enhancement is added. It clearly explains every aspect of the task involved with creating a site from information design to usability engineering. If you could put the top 20 most successful sites along side of each other and take the one most effective characteristic of each site and put it within the confines of a book chapter you would have Ani Phyo's Return on Design. This book defines what it takes to create a good and successful web site. I would recommend this book to any web professional from armatures to seasoned experts.
